The National Pork Producers Council’s 2008 World Pork Expo marks the event’s 20th anniversary of serving as the world’s largest trade show for the pork industry.

World Pork Expo Events & Activities

Trade Show
Thursday and Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to noon
Location: Varied Industries Building, Cattle Barn and Outdoors
The world's largest pork-specific trade show featuring a wide array of pork industry products and services offered by some 500 exhibitors.

Big Grill
Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Triangle area
There is such a thing as a free lunch at World Pork Expo!

World Pork Expo Musical Entertainment
Friday, June 6
3 to 8 p.m.
Location: Grand Concourse
Three musical acts will take the stage beginning with the Street Band from Webster City, Iowa, performing rock and roll favorites, followed by country legends, Highway 101, with special guest, Sweethearts of the Rodeo. Topping off the night will be the ever-popular Broadway Beatles Tribute.

National Hog Farmer New Product Showcase
Thursday and Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 8 to 10 a.m.
Location: Varied Industries Building Meeting Room B
The New Product Showcase offers World Pork Expo attendees the opportunity to vote for the most promising new product from National Hog Farmer's New Product Tour. All voters will be entered to win a commemorative World Pork Expo toy tractor in one of three drawings per day!

World Pork Open 2008 Golf Outing
Friday, June 6
8:30 a.m. Registration and free range balls
9:30 a.m. Shotgun start
Location: Briarwood Golf Course, Ankeny, Iowa
A World Pork Expo favorite! Reservations are being accepted for the first 144 golfers. Cost is a $125 contribution per golfer. Sign up a foursome or register individually.

World Pork Open Clay Target Championship

Thursday, June 5
Location: New Pioneer Gun Club, Waukee, Iowa
Sign up for a five-person team shoot-out which has become a "don’t-miss" World Pork Expo event.

National Swine Registry's Americas Best Genetics
During Trade Show Hours
Location: Cattle Barn
Learn about the best swine genetics available by taking a trip through the National Swine Registry's Americas Best Genetics section in the Cattle Barn.

Cruisin' with the Hogs -- Iron Warriors
Saturday, approximately 10 a.m.
Location: Grand Concourse
Watch the fun and hear the rumble as more than 100 Harley Davidson enthusiasts parade into down the Grand Concourse for judging and prizes. This motorcycle club is comprised of law enforcement officers, fire fighters and other public servants who ride to raise funds for local charities.

Trade Show Hours
Location: Cattle Barn Main Entrance
Pig images in a variety of media will be on display in this unique traditional show. Artist from around the country vie for cash prizes and ribbons. Expo attendees may vote for their favorite artwork in the Audience Choice Award.

Judging starts at 11 a.m.
Prizes awarded at 3:30 p.m.
Location: South of the Varied Industries Building
The nation's best barb-b-quers will vie for a share of more than $37,500 in cash prizes and national competition points in this World Pork Expo tradition. Contestants will bring their custom-made grills and sauces to compete in the categories of whole hog, ribs, loin and shoulder, and showmanship.

World Pork Expo Junior National Swine Show
Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Swine Barn
One of the top youth shows in the nation, the Junior National draws young showmen from across the country. Awards are given for swine, showmanship and judging competitions.

World Pork Expo Breed Show and Sale
Friday, 8 a.m. to noon
Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon
Location: Swine Barn and Sheep Barn
The National Swine Registrei's 2008 World Pork Expo Swine Breed Show and sale features the nation's top producers showing purebred Berkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland China, Spotted and Yorkshire hogs. the 2007 Grand Champion boar sold for $52,000.
