Pants Fitting: From Start to Finished Pattern
Workshop: $240.00 includes kit

Bring to class the list of supplies needed for project
Limit ONLY 16 students

Register early! You will be mailed a workbook with all the needed instructions for measuring your body, altering your pattern, and constructing a mock-up before coming to class. Cynthia will be available to answer your questions during this process by email. The Workshop consists of Cynthia personally fitting your mock-up and demonstrating how to transfer the adjustments to your pattern. You will leave with a pattern ready to cut and sew.

Jerri McKee / Moonlight Design Quilts and Wearables

Is this jacket really made from a sweatshirt? This is the most commonly asked question at the Moonlight Design booth. The answer is: Yes! This beautiful jacket uses the sweatshirt for the jacket base and the pattern pieces. If you have never made a jacket this is the perfect beginner class and if you are an expert Jerri will find something a little more challenging for you to add to your jacket. Two of the many things you will learn in this class are to make very skinny strip sets perfectly straight and learn some really neat quilting designs. Bring note-taking material because Jerri has a wealth of information on wearable art and proclaims to know just about every short cut around!

Inspired by designer Koos VandenAkker and the book "Koos Couture Collage", you will put together a sweatshirt style top using a purchased sweatshirt. A simple flip and sew method of stitching and the "Koos" signature bias design work will allow you to get a smashing, sophisticated look to your top. You won't want to stop with just one!

Selecting patterns that will flatter your figure can be challenging. We often are disappointed in the finished garment as it appears on us. Cynthia will discuss fitting issues and the choice of patterns that will allow you to address your needs. You will see how adding volume can have a slimming affect. Each participant will be analyzed.

This a color study process workshop to develop your own Amish color palette for a quilt top. You will be making a fabric mock up or two. Discussion includes quilting designs, making them fill and fit the space, and how to mark the top. There will be no sewing in this class.

Don't just create a beautiful quilted or embellished vest that is work of art, make a great-fitting one that you enjoy wearing. Master Hand Sewing: Tricks to Success @ 8:30 am – 10:30 am

Hand sewing is one of the most important elements in achieving a custom, professional look to your garment. It does not have to be boring or difficult. Cynthia will demonstrate the tricks to getting both parts of the snap in exactly the right place, sewing buttons, thread eyes and chains and much more. With needle in hand, we will practice the techniques.

Cynthia will demonstrate the “set-up” and technique to construct the easiest bound pocket and bound buttonhole that is possible. With pre-sewn samples, participants will practice the steps. The goal of the class is to accomplish either the pocket or the buttonhole. The sample will include both.

Now that the quilt top is pieced, how and where do I quilt it? If you are confused about what and where to quilt and how much to quilt, this class is for you. Bring in your quilt tops and let’s have
an old-fashion discussion session. We’ll explore quilting planning strategies, learn how to make a stencil to fit the space, and how to make a feathered border and corner to fit. Note taking and
demo class only. All levels.

Shadow Quilting with a Spin @ 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

We will take another look at shadow quilting with a fun new spin. Using our Prang color crayons we will speed up the process. You will be working with Patterncentral iron-on transfer patterns
and Prang crayons. We will be working on the shadow quilting technique while making a quilt block. The kit fee is $15.00 and includes, (1) cotton fat quarter, (1) organza fat quarter, (1) pack of prang crayons, (1) embroidery needle, (1) iron on transfer pattern, (3) skeins of prescencia embroidery floss.
