Spencer, IA -- Professional welder and metal artist John Brommel has been creating with carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum and bronze for over 36 years. Brommel has invented dozen's of unique welding techniques, such as brass on stainless.  "Much of the welding I have completed for employers over the years were on locations like electrical generating stations, chemical plants and refineries, which almost means my work was 100% X-Ray.  Translated into layman terms it means that every weld was X-Rayed and the result was required to be perfect," said Brommel.

The Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts is pleased to announce that John Brommel will be teaching a two-day workshop in Spencer for professional welders and metal artists on November 14 and 15, 2009.

The first day will be all about discussion and demonstration. In the morning Brommel will teach a class focused on the professional welder that would like to improve their TIG and X-Ray welding skills to ultimately produce clean, precise welds on any metal. In the afternoon of the first day Brommel will focus more on using these same welding skills to create fine art.

The second day will be 100% hands-on for the students -- working side-by-side with this remarkable metal artist.  A minimum of 10 students are necessary and November 11th is the last day to register.  Cost for day one is $165.  There is an optional lab fee of $50 for day two.  Both class days will be held at the Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts, located adjacent to Spencer High School.  To register or obtain more information contact Tony Curiel at (712) 580-5035 or visit them on the web at www.curielarts.org
