Since 1936 it has been the mission and purpose of the Alvin Church of God to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ in the north Vermilion County community. God has given us a strong vision to be a lighthouse in the region, offering hope, healing, and direction for your life. We believe that in the atmosphere of God's unconditional love you will find a place to belong to a loving family and a place to become all that God wants you to be. We are confident that you will experience spiritual and personal growth through the avenues of God's Word, prayer, worship, and Christian service. Our doors are open to people of all backgrounds. We are a local extension of the world's oldest continuing Pentecostal church, the Church of God headquarted in Cleveland, TN. This movement, which started in the western Tennessee mountains in 1886, now has over 6,000 churches in the U.S. and reaches around the world to 165 countries. We are also a part of a network of 77 churches in downstate Illinois, with our regional headquarters in Decatur, IL. This partnership offers great opportunities for fellowship and ministry with such things as youth camps, camp meetings, and prayer conferences.
