Glow: Work by Photographers on Faculty

Glow, focuses on how the work by Ollie Danzler, Adam Ekberg, Katharine Lion, Krystal Meisel and Anna Ressman focus on light in both a metaphorical and technical sense. While the artists’ photographs engage various thematic considerations and utilize different technical tools and procedures, all of the artists contemplate light. Some of the artists approach this concept metaphorically; for example, Ollie Danzler explores the reflecting and refracting dimensions of familial relationships in her series Mothers: Keepers of the Light. Others, such as Adam Ekberg, employ the concept literally by using mirrors as technical tools to complicate his compositions. The works by Krystal Meisel and Anna Ressman and an installation by Katharine Lion offer a combination of the two using light, fabric and scrims to psychologically enhance the depiction of subjects and figures.
All of the artists are in various stages of their careers and have been instructors of either digital or darkroom-based photography at the Hyde Park Art Center for two to ten years.
