The newspapers are filled with stories about refuse trucks catching fire from sources other than “hot loads.” New federal rules require that fires be reported under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations if the driver is injured or the vehicle must be towed. Listen to a panel discussion of operators and vehicle manufacturers discuss the causes of fires and solutions to prevent them.

EIA’s Inspirational & Awards Breakfast featuring Eric Greitens @ 7:45 am - 10:00 am
Join the EIA and the waste industry for breakfast featuring inspirational guest speaker Eric Greitens. During breakfast, the EIA will recognize leaders in the waste industry for their commitment and amazing contributions and the Class of 2008 will be inducted into the EIA Hall of Fame.

Eric Greitens is a decorated U.S. Navy SEAL and a Rhodes Scholar who earned his Ph.D. at Oxford University where he wrote his thesis on, Children First, an investigation on the ways in which international humanitarian organizations can best serve war-affected children. Greitens is also a national champion boxer. He is the founder of the Center for Citizen Leadership – a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of the next generation of American leadership. He has served as the commander of the Joint Special Operations Task Unit, and commander of an Al Qaeda Targeting Cell. His service earned him a Bronze Star. In 2005, he was granted a White House Fellowship for leadership and public service. He inspires with insight and passion about leadership, ethics, and service.
