Moderated by St. Peter's own Janet Arnett, the panel featured three laypersons from traditions other than the Episcopal Church: Mr. Jerry Feil, who was raised Lutheran and attends a community church in Orland Park, Illinois; Mrs. Jennifer Winnett Denniston, who was raised United Methodist and attends a non-denominational church in Indianapolis; and Mrs. Debra Harris, who was raised and attends a Baptist church in Clay City, Illinois. This panel did an excellent job explaining how stewardship, tithing, offering, budgeting, et cetera were done at their churches. This is truly a riveting hour of conversation. ----- On August 26 and 27, 2011, St. Peter's hosted "By Faith with Thanksgiving: Exploring God's Transforming Abundance," a stewardship conference featuring the Rev. Terry Parsons. Rev. Parsons is a founding member of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship, and for 12 years, she was the Stewardship Officer of The Episcopal Church. She has spoken all over the United States and in Europe and Canada, and she is one of the premier authorities in America today on stewardship and generosity.

Our party increased the size of Clay City, Illinois, by more than 10 percent for an evening. We had 92 folks in attendance from Clay City, Monticello, Edwardsville, Robinson, Oblong, Carmi, Cisne, Salem, and Flora, Illinois; Little Rock, Arkansas; St. Louis, Missouri; Washington, DC; Indianapolis, Brownsburg, Carmel, Greensburg, Terre Haute, Clarksville, and Fort Wayne, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; Palo Alto, California; and Hopewell, New Jersey. Attendees included dear, dear friends of ours from high school, college, law school, and adulthood/church. We made pretty quick work of Horatio, a noble hog who weighed in at 150 pounds dressed. Other food came from Mike's Market in Louisville, Illinois, and we were fortunate to have a sound system loaned to us to play our 300-song iPod playlist of mostly-90s hits, mixed in with some Big Band, 60s, 80s hair band, country, and dance music. We truly had a blast and owe a great debt of thanks to our families and friends for making this such a spectacular evening.
