First Baptist Church is a biblically based fellowship of believers committed to worshipping, serving, and sharing Christ. Our heritage of faith and faithfulness as a church began in 1861 and each passing generation has built on and added to that original sense of vision.

Today we are a vibrant growing congregation with ministries and programs designed to reach and to minister to children, youth, and adults of all ages. From quality ministry to preschoolers, children, and young families, to a well grounded youth ministry led by a full time youth minister, and on to the sensitivity and commitment to meet the needs of Senior Adults, First Baptist is passionate about touching lives in the name of Jesus Christ.

We also have a passion about sharing the gospel beyond the walls of our church and even our own community. We believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not only "Good News", we believe that it is the only news that can change hearts, lives, and eternities. Consequently, we encourage personal witnessing and have numerous ministries designed to present and promote the message of Jesus Christ in our community. Additionally, we give 15% of all our regular offerings directly to the support of missionaries and mission work around the world through the cooperative work of the Southern Baptist Convention. We are also annually involved in a wide variety of mission projects and offerings that challenge us to continually be "going" and "giving".
