The mission of the HerrinCommunitySchool District is-

To create a safe, orderly learning environment conducive to preparation of highly motivated students;

To work to ensure that all students achieve to the maximum potential of their abilities; and

To prepare students to be successful in their career/technical training or higher education and in the workplace.

Central to this area’s economy is the Herrin Community School System, which has an annual budget of about $18 million.The School System is one of the community’s largest employers with approximately 300 employees, each playing a vital role in providing quality education for all students by offering complete academic programs with the flexibility to meet students’ individual needs.
