Iaria's History:
- Pete
& Antonia started out in
- They migrated with their 8 children to
- Their original home is where the dining room
sits today
- Pete & Antonia took in borders and fed
workers from G & J Rubber Plant located across the street, this is how the
tradition began
- In 1916, they opened Pete Iaria's Italian
Grocery Store, which is on the site where the bar is today
- Iaria's spaghetti sauce was sold in the
restaurant from day one and is Antonia's original recipe, it is still what a
tops our pasta today
- In 1933, Pete & Antonia, sons Matthew
& Rocky, and daughter Pasqualina Iaria Piccione gave birth to Pete Iaria's
Restaurant
- In 1940,
- In 1949, Pete turned over the restaurant to
son Matthew (Mate) and his wife Santina Bondi Iaria, they vowed to continue the
tradition of fine Italian food, good service, & immaculate surroundings
- In 1992, the third generation of restaurant
owners was born when Mate decided it was time to pass it on to his son Nick
- Nick, his wife Kathleen and his daughters
Santina & Gina ran the restaurant and continued service to customers until
the summer of 2003
- In September of 2003, Nick sold the
restaurant to his brother Matthew's children and nephew, the fourth generation
- The fourth generation family members are keeping the tradition alive today
