Kinda like Martinsville in '08. Anyway... 1995 was my first official year as a NASCAR fan. I had the sport on in the background in years prior, having a peek here and there on the TV in my room... but really, that was only in between turning my video game consoles off. I had heard of the great championship battle in '92, and the ensuing tragedies in '93, but I never really followed the sport. In '95, my sister got tickets to a track I had never heard of before. "Pocono"?? Sounds fake. Anyway, I started watching, just to see what it was all about, and (obviously, here I am today) enjoyed it tremendously. I had a bit of a rough time getting to know who was who and why, but I just enjoyed pulling for the colorful cars. Terry Labonte and Jeff Gordon were among them, of course. In any case, I saw Dale Earnhardt as a bit of a bad guy. The finish of this race at the time didn't piss me off, so much as I just thought it was kinda wrong. It just kinda solidified my anti-Earnhardt sentiment I developed as the years went on, but of course, the sport is definitely not the same without him around.
