Riot Prankster 1/19/12 Run #1 01:40
Internet Explorer users: click pause before closing Riot Prankster 1/19/12 Run #1running time:01:40 added by:SoffermanPerspective source: YouTubeI play as much as possible in the upper part of the Assabet River in Maynard, MA just below the dam. Water levels are very low right now, only about 2.72 feet, so there is alot of bottoming out on rocks, etc. No strainers here though, but in some of the runs, you see me getting caught up and having to shake loose. I wanted to keep the videos short, so the runs were very quick, while I usually run for 10-15 minutes steady before finding and eddy and taking a break......great workout. This is even more fun with higher water levels, and that's when I turn downstream and head down the entire whitewater section if I have a car parked at the end. Mostly Class I and II, but at higher levels can become more. Still a great training location. And before someone lectures me on the dangers of low-head dams, I'm well aware and very cautious. I always test the dam with logs and/or balls to see if they recirculate, or get spit out, and they always get spit out. (thanks for the tip Jeff!) Also, I never get close enough to it to be dangerous.
