Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, an acute care hospital with a 41-bed capacity, has served the residents of Needham, Dedham, Westwood, Dover and Medfield for more than 80 years. In 2002, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Deaconess-Glover Hospital formalized their long-standing collaboration in order to enhance clinical programs and increase patient access to care. The two hospitals' emergency departments were integrated successfully in 2000. The 2002 affiliation allows for integration of staff and resources in other clinical areas such as hospital medicine (hospitalists), cardiology, radiology and general surgery.
