Founded in 1990, the CYSO continues to offer great music opportunities for young musicians throughout the greater Washington, DC, Baltimore and Annapolis regions. This season Music Director Julien Benichou and the CYSO conductors will present many exciting concerts to the community including; a performance with the Queen Anne's Chorale, the Maryland Hall Holiday Concert to benefit Food Link, and the Spring Concert Gala. The Instrumental Concerto Competition will be held in the spring of 2006, with the winner performing in concert with the Symphony Orchestra.

CYSO is extremely fortunate to have many wonderful artists interact with our ensembles: Jonathan Carney, concertmaster; Christian Colberg, viola; and Rene Hernandez, trumpet all of the Baltimore Symphony; and Ray Still, principal oboe of the Chicago Symphony; to name a few, work with CYSO students and share their thoughts and feelings about a life in music. The involvement of these artists is reflected in the superior musicianship of every CYSO ensemble.
