Pascale is the divorced mother of twin grown sons, who live with her in a large Belgian farmhouse. Francois and Thierry have surprisingly different personalities. Francois is headstrong and ill-tempered while Thierry is shy and withdrawn. Both are aimless and totally dependent on their mother. Using different techniques, they constantly level abuse upon her. After years of acquiescence, Pascale has withdrawn from confrontation and discipline. She has recently started to date a man and she longs for a life of her own. But, of course, her sons see this differently. When Pascale decides to sell the house, the family dynamics explode.

Francois and Thierry are real life brothers, Jeremie and Yannick Renier. Jeremie, who plays Francois, appeared as the vagabond father in “L’Enfant,” a film presented by Cinema Bethesda last year. “Private Property” is directed by Belgium’s Joachim Lafosse who also wrote the text with Francois Pirot.

“Private Property” is the final film in Cinama Bethesda’s 2007-2008 season. The films will resume next September. All films are shown at 10:00 a.m. Sundays at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema, 7235 Woodmont Avenue. A provocative discussion led by a local film expert will follow each film. Tickets at the door are $14. For further information, visit our web site at http://CinemaArtBethesda.org or call 301-365-3679.
