Thornapple Township, a general law township, includes 36 square miles of land, named after its connection with the Thornapple River whose waters bisect the township.
Thornapple Township is the fastest growing area in Barry County, home to over 7000 people including all residents of the Village of Middleville and Barry County’s largest employer, Bradford White Corporation, a major supplier of hot water heaters.
Thornapple Township is located in the northwest corner of Barry County, approximately 20 miles south of Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the southwestern portion of the State of Michigan’s lower peninsula.
Thornapple Township provides various services to its residents including having
the following departments: administration, assessing, cemetery, elections,
emergency services, highways and roads, parks and recreation, planning,
treasurer/tax and sewer/utilities.
