Organized in 1932 as a private not-for-profit corporation, the Chamber of Commerce is South Havens oldest business organization. As a private organization, the Chamber has many partnerships and works closely with a number of community entities, but at its core it remains an organization of business.
Two of the most common perceptions are that the Chamber of Commerce is a government institution or it is a service club. It is neither. Today, the organization is made up of 350 area business members committed to South Haven and doing business here. The mission of the organization is "to support economic growth and prosperity in the greater South Haven area."
