Sidewalk Days Festival

The Sidewalk Days Festival, Duluth’s own celebration of Downtown and summer shopping, will be held. Merchants, restaurants, entertainers, and vendors are all preparing for this joyous summer tradition.  Along with daytime entertainment and shopping, the evening hours offer the Classic Car Show &Harley Revue.  And of course the music! With a Rock the Block concert scheduled for the 10th  and Street dances on the 11th there is truly something for everyone.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Duluth’s largest summer shopping celebration begins on Wednesday at 10:00am. In addition to visiting food vendors and artisans, the downtown merchants bring their merchandise out to the Superior Street sidewalks of downtown Duluth. The West stage, located in the300 Block of West Superior St, and the East stage located between Lake Ave and 1st Ave West are geared up to bring you hours of entertainment from 11:00am to 3:00 pm daily. Musicians, dancers and thespians are sure to please. A walk down our cobblestone streets will be a shopper’s delight. For children’s entertainment, a moonwalk and safari train will surely please along with interactive fun with Pat Castellano of Children’s Museum fame. Hawk Ridge Peregrine watch program and the Lake Superior Clowns add to the enjoyment on the street along with the Army Climbing Wall. Plus up close and personal contact with animals from the Lake Superior Zoo.

The 8th Annual Classic Car show and Harley Revue begins on Superior Street at 5:00 pm. Seven blocks of classic cars and motorcycles - 4th Ave West to 3rd Ave East. In addition to the cars and bikes, music is provided on each block. Bands scheduled to appear are Don’t Panic, Hoot Owls, Mark Anderson Jazz Trio, Park Avenue, Rock a Billy Revue, Shack Shakers and Sweet Grass.

Sidewalk Shuffle 5K Run & Walk @ 12.15 pm
The race starts at the Lake Superior Plaza, next to the Minnesota Power building, crosses over Lake Avenue and onto the Lake Avenue Lakewalk entrance.

Thursday, July 10, 2008
The street and stage events continue into a fun filled Thursday.  The second installment of the Rock the Block summer concert series begins at 4:30pm when Brandon Scott Sellner, presented by ZLB, takes to the stage in front of Jitters at 1st West Ave and Superior St.  Grab a chair and a cool drink and listen to some polished blues infused with electric guitar.
