Al’s Master Plumbing is a family owned business that has been operating since 1989. Alfons Foschiatti, who started plumbing at the age of 13 in Mindleheim, Germany, is a Master Plumber, licensed by both the City of Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota. Al moved to this country in 1987, when he married Laura, who shares ownership in the company and focuses her attention on the administrative and financial end of the business.

The one-man sole proprietor service and repair company, both commercial and residential, was based out of the Foschiatti home in Mound until 2000, when a building was purchased at the current location in Minneapolis. The broad customer base in the Lake Minnetonka area still remains while the base of customers in the Minneapolis neighborhoods is ever expanding.

By 1994, the company grew to six employees, three of who were licensed plumbers, two apprentice plumbers and one dispatcher. As the company grew, more commercial and residential remodeling and new construction jobs were taken on in addition to the service and repair work. By 1998, approximately half of our revenue came from new construction and remodeling and the other half came from service and repair work. Even back then, 90% of the business came from repeat customers and referrals from existing customers.

Since the customer base was growing so rapidly, the goal in 2000 was to return the focus of the business to service and repair. 2000 became a year of big changes at Al’s. The move to the new location in Minneapolis took place and new software (Successware, PSI) was implemented on the office computers. This allowed Al’s to service their customers better by having the ability to track older service calls faster, dispatch calls faster and more efficiently, and provide the customers and service technicians with more information than before. Because the customer is our most important asse t, at Al’s, a phone call from a customer is never an interruption to the daily business; it is the daily business. What the customer hears and sees about us is our image. The management and the employee’s of Al’s are following certain steps to constantly improve the company’s image. A good image benefits the company as well as the employee.

Al’s Master Plumbing currently has fourteen employees and is looking forward to welcoming more career minded, ambitious people to the succes sful team.
