Anchored in a Sea of Grass - The Art of C.S. Poppenga

This exhibit is a visual appreciation of two or more island mountain ranges of central Montana. Central Montana's island mountain ranges are shorter and less expansive than the Rockies and other ranges west, but they offer visual vistas and details that are just as compelling as their westward brothers. C.S. Poppenga is from Lewistown and this is her journey around and in the Big Snowy, Judith and Moccasin ranges. Poppenga's paintings are primarily of sky or sky-land relationships. This is an exhibit that depicts the "soft mountainscapes" of central Montana and their relationship to the hay and wheat fields of the accompanying valleys and plateaus.
