Mission Statement:

To invite, to encourage, and to involve all people to share in Christ's Kingdom.

History

In 1961, a group of 63 persons gathered at the local Rialto Theater for the first Worship Service of what would become Prince of Peace Church, a congregation of the former American Lutheran Church (ALC). A Sunday school was begun and the community was canvassed in order to reach unchurched families in the area. In 1962, the congregation moved to another location (the Christian Church) and began groundbreaking later that same year. The new building was dedicated on March 17, 1963, with a membership of 120.

A parsonage (located directly behind the church on P Street) was built in 1965.

A large bequest enabled Prince of Peace to enlarge its facilities in 1981, and additional educational rooms were added, along with a new kitchen, fellowship hall, church office, and enlarged nave. Membership increased to 260 by the end of 1984.

Our congregation consists of persons with a variety of church backgrounds such as: Roman Catholic, United Methodist, Mennonite, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Wisconsin Evangelical Synod, which makes us truly a diversified family of faith. There are currently 346 baptized members included on the membership roll of Prince of Peace Church.
