A Million Pages Summer Reading 2022 At Canton Public Library

Schools and Libraries

May 27, 2022

From: Canton Public Library

Have you ever tried to count to a million? It is a huge number! Yet at the Canton Public Library, where we try to encourage and inspire reading of every kind, it has become the goal of the Summer Reading Million Page Challenge. To reach our ambitious goal, we need your help!

Every reader of any age can be a part of Canton Library’s Million Page Reading Challenge program, which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. To participate, readers will sign up using the ReadSquared website or free app, and log the number of pages read. Each reader may set their own reading goal and receive a free t-shirt for logging their first book.  Although you may sign up at any time during the summer, to be sure of receiving a t-shirt, sign up by June 30.

Featured on the T-shirt is a beautiful, original woodcut print the Library commissioned from local artist Rachel Tarinelli, a Hartford Art School college student and Canton High School graduate. The image incorporates iconic images of Collinsville, an Axe Factory building and the iron truss Rail-Trail bridge, and will be a unique item of clothing for our participating readers. View other art work created by Rachel all summer in the library gallery spaces.

The program and associated website will be up and running by Saturday, May 28.  Get more information and use the link which will appear on the library’s website, https://cantonpubliclibrary.org. Call (860) 693-5800 or come into the library with questions or to get help signing up. Be there and ReadSquared! All Million Page Reading Challenge participants will be invited to an end-of summer celebration on Saturday, September 10 (raindate 9/11).
