MIKE MIRON'S EASTPORT ARCHIVAL COLLECTION

Last Tuesday, Annapolis Maritime Museum and Park (AMM) Curator of Collections, Hayley Worland, had the honor of presenting The Michael F. Miron Collection. This remarkable collection houses a treasure trove of oral histories that chronicle the rich history of the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis throughout the 20th century.

Mike Miron was a dedicated advocate for the Eastport community and a fervent preserver of its history. Over the span of 25 years, he passionately conducted interviews with its residents and gathered an invaluable archive of photographs, letters, and other historical documents that encapsulate Eastport's maritime heritage. His interviews included boat builders, marine trades workers, civil rights activists, church leaders, schoolteachers, and countless others who played pivotal roles in shaping the character of this unique place.

Mike Miron's sentiment about the importance of history preservation is truly profound. He eloquently emphasized the significance of safeguarding our past for the sake of our present and future generations
