Announcing the 11 semifinalists of the

Fou Ts'ong International Concerto Competition

Aug 19-20, 2023

Boston, MA, USA

Concerto 2023:

Tchaikovsky:

Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 23

(1879 version, the 2nd edition, available on IMSLP as “Version B”)

Candidates from Canada, China, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, and USA of age 35 and under submitted videos for evaluation.

The Preliminary Round 5-member Jury Panel (alphabetically, Gloria Chien, Grace Chung, Jianing Kong, Anton Nel, and Yinfei Wan ) praised the advanced level of achievement demonstrated by all the applicants, made the selecting process a challenging task.

The following 11 are recommended to the Semi-Final Round to be held in person on

August 19, 2023, 1-6 pm at NEC's Williams Hall in Boston.

Five will be advanced to the Final Round on Sunday Aug 20, 7:30 to 11 pm at NEC's Williams Hall in front of the same jury panel.

Both Semifinal and Final Rounds are

Open to the public.

Admission is Free. Suggested donation $10 at door. Children under 6 not admitted.

First prize: USD $5,000, performing with Mercury Orchestra at NEC's Jordan Hall, Aug 26, 2023, 7:30 pm

and a returning solo recital at Summer FREE

Concerts @ NEC 2024.

Second prize: USD $2,000

Third prize: USD $1,000
