We live in an extraordinary moment in Earth’s history, which geologists have dubbed the Anthropocene. A single species–our own–is now the dominant force on the planet, rivaling what used to be called the great forces of nature. How will this play out?

Join us for a lecture with the esteemed climate communicator and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Kolbert, discussing the Anthropocene and her most recent book, Under a White Sky: The Nature of the Future.

Art for the Birds Gallery Opening in partnership with ACES

The Aspen Chapel Gallery

Join for the opening reception of "Art for the Birds," a curated collection of bird-related mixed media from talented local artists. The exhibition runs through August 19 and will be available for viewing daily from 10am-5pm at the Aspen Chapel Gallery.

High in the Alpine: Flowers, Birds, & Small Mammals of the Tundra

Come explore the alpine tundra on top of Independence Pass and open your senses to the new ways of seeing this seemingly monotonous landscape. Join a Forest Conservancy Master Naturalist to learn about the great species that populate the area including cushion plants, krummholz, Horned larks, and pikas.

Stories Told By Trees Walk: Forest Recovery from the Lake Christine Fire

Come hear the many stories that the forest ecosystems affected by the 2018 Lake Christine Fire have to tell. Join ACES Forest Programs Director, Adam McCurdy for a walk around the burn zones and explore the regeneration of the forest ecosystem 5 years after the fire.

As peak harvest season approaches, we are excited to have our Burlap dinners return at the end of August. Join us at Rock Bottom Ranch for a casual evening spent exploring our agriculture systems, followed by a family-style meal in our open-air pole barn. Burlap Dinners are scheduled for Thursday, August 24, August 31, and September 7.
