From: Arizona Governor Katie HobbsPHOENIX – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon recently was interviewed by Dave Zorn on 92.9 KAFF Country.
Salmon spoke with Zorn about his detailed plans to secure the U.S.-Mexico border – specifically, through his new Operation Copper Shield initiative – and why it's so important that voters nominate a proven conservative as the Republican nominee for governor.
You can read relevant excerpts from the interview below:
Matt Salmon On Securing Arizona's Border:
"As governor, from Day One, I will declare a state of emergency at the border. I will call the legislature into special session and ask them for an appropriation for this effort – Copper Shield – of $200 million ... This isn't just a security issue for Arizona. It's a national security issue. But we've got to step up our efforts."
Matt Salmon On His Proven Conservative Record:
"The message I'm trying to carry to everybody, Dave, is that we've got a lot of serious issues on our hands ... It's incredibly important we have somebody that has a background of getting things done ... You don't have to bet on me and hope that everything I'm saying I'll do. I've done these things before and I've got a record as long as my arm proving that I am exactly who I say I am."
