PHOENIX – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon appeared Friday, May 20th afternoon "Russell & Hunter" (News Talk 550 KFYI).

Salmon spoke with Rob Hunter about his plans as governor to expand school choice and take on the corrupt teachers union. They also discussed the recent court ruling to keep Title 42 in place and why Katie Hobbs' dangerous position on the issue is so far out of the mainstream.

"The only one that's sad about this ruling today is Katie Hobbs. As far as I'm concerned, this is great news. I introduced an initiative we're going to be doing as soon as I'm sworn in as governor called Copper Shield ... I'm going to ask the state legislature for $200 million for Copper Shield. $140 million of that will be to send 1,200 armed National Guard to the border ... Then I'm going to take $50 million of that money and give it to our county sheriffs and our county attorneys to make sure that we start prosecuting ..."

"I want to also provide incentives for people that have retired to come into the classrooms and tutor and help kids ... The teachers union only wants 'the teachers union.' We've got to break up that cabal, and we've got to get really, really talented and wonderful people ... The best way to do that is ... to provide meritocracy pay for teachers and also to give parents the power of the purse so that they'd be able to decide what schools their kids go to and the tax dollars follow the kid."
