Morristown, NJ - The Morris Museum is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated AutomataCon, featuring an array of captivating programming and automata and kinetic art objects. From panel discussions to a world-premiere film, this event promises to immerse attendees in the world of automata. This three-day convention will be at the Morris Museum.

AutomataCon will showcase a diverse range of programming designed to cater to all enthusiasts and newcomers. The convention’s keynote speaker, Kathleen Maher, Barnum Museum Executive Director, will lead a presentation that delves into the career and oddities of P.T. Barnum including his fascination with moving figures.  

Another highlight is the Kinetic Artists Panel: The Creative Process — Secrets Revealed! This engaging session will feature renowned artists Cecilia Schiller, Tom Haney, and Bradley Litwin, who will share their insights and expertise on creating kinetic art. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to delve into the minds of these talented individuals and gain a deeper understanding of the art form. For those interested in exploring exceptional collections, collector Richard Garriott, President of the Explorers Club, will lead An Explorer's Tour of Special Pieces from His Collection. Author and historian Elizabeth King will speak on topics related to her book Miracles and Machines: A Sixteenth-Century Automaton and Its Legend. King's extensive knowledge and captivating storytelling will transport the audience back in time, unraveling the mysteries surrounding this remarkable automaton.

“We're excited to welcome new and old friends to the convention, to share their love of this art form, which is both ancient and modern,” said founder and convention chair Brett King. “Attendees can get immersed in all things automata across our programming and the fantastic collections of the Morris Museum."  
In addition to the programming, the convention will feature a Friday evening reception, allowing attendees to connect and network with fellow enthusiasts. Hands-on workshops will also be available, allowing participants to further engage with the art form and learn from experts in the field.

Event attendees will be invited to indulge in some of the best food trucks in NJ. Purveyors include Jersey Rollz, The Brownie Bar Café, and Flirty Desserts and they will be on-site at the Morris Museum on Saturday & Sunday from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.
