Beaman Library would like to invite local artists and crafters to share a sample of their work in the Library's display case on the Library's main floor. Collections will be displayed for a period of one month during June, July, and August. To be considered for the display, please contact Lauren for additional information no later than April 30! Artisans ages 12 and older are encouraged to participate.

Learn How to Install Libby on Your Device
Saturday, April 1 at 10:30 a.m.

Do you need help installing Libby on a new or existing device? During this session, Lauren will provide hands-on assistance with the installation process and answer basic questions to help you get started. Please include the name of the device you will be bringing with you in the comment section of the online registration form. Space is limited.

Italian Conversation Circle

Saturday, April 8 and 22 at 10:00 a.m.

Join other Italian speakers in the community for an opportunity to speak Italian exclusively for two hours!

James Webb Space Telescope
Wednesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. 

Join NASA Ambassador M.J. Johnson for a discussion of the James Webb Space Telescope. View phenomenal photos of the furthest reaches of outer space, and discuss what we can learn from these images.

Dear Suzanne Poetry Reading
Thursday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m.

April is National Poetry Month! Honor French post-impressionist artist Suzanne Valadon as Eve Rifkah and Josette Kaplan perform Eve’s novel in verse and share images of Valadon's art. The performance explores the struggles and joys of finding voice through making art and the multiple roles a woman lives as daughter, mother, wife, and artist.

Stress Reduction and Relaxation Yoga with Carol McGuiggan

Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. 
Experience the benefits of gentle yoga stretches, calming breath techniques, and meditation. Dress for movement. Bring a yoga mat or thick towel. Space is limited.

Book Discussion Group 

Thursday, April 20 at 12:30 p.m. 
Join us to discuss Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk one month prior to the discussion.

Mindful Meditation with Carol McGuiggan
Wednesday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m.

This class is open to individuals wishing to develop inner awareness, health, and well-being. The practice will include techniques to improve concentration, clarity of mind, relaxation, and promote self-awareness. Bring a yoga mat or sitting cushion and a receptive attitude. Space is limited.

Bad Art Night

Thursday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Flex your creativity without the pressure to be any good! Bad Art Night provides the materials and encouragement to make truly terrible art while having a lot of fun. We'll vote on the worst piece to determine the 'Baddest Artist in Residence'.

Nonfiction Book Discussion Group
Friday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m.

Come discuss On Animals by Susan Orlean. Copies of the books will be available one month prior to the meeting.

Bottle Bots (½ Day at WBMHS)
Wednesday, April 5 at 1:00 p.m. 

Learn how to turn an old bottle cap into a tiny robot that dances and scoots! All of the materials needed to complete this simple project will be provided.

Glass Painting
Tuesday, April 18 at 5:00 p.m.

Join Jessica to learn how to spruce up a simple piece of glassware by creating a stained glass appearance with glue and food coloring! Your design will be not only unique, but permanent and dishwasher safe! All required materials will be provided.


Chapters and Chipper Chatter
Tuesday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m.

A book discussion group for those readers transitioning be(TWEEN) the children’s collection and young adult collection. Join Miss Sue and Jessica to read and discuss the first chapter of a fun, lighthearted young adult book. Copies of the book will be available to borrow so you can finish the selected title at home.

Teen Book Cloud is an online database offering a selection of YA books, graphic novels, audiobooks, and more! Try out Enhanced Novels, including classics like Romeo and Juliet, which pair professional narration with line by line highlighting of the text. The collection is available online, with no downloads or waiting required. If you can access the internet, you can access Teen Book Cloud. The next time you're stuck waiting at the dentist, why not take a trip with Raul the Third's Lowriders in Space? Or check out the mysterious, icy world of Brooke Carter's The Stone of Sorrow on your next vacation?  With so much to choose from, you'll have the perfect escape whenever that Tik Tok dance you can't stand shows up again.

April Showers Bring May Flowers
Tuesday, April 4 at 4:00 p.m.

Join us for a fun craft using crayons, parchment paper, and a warm iron to make a beautiful raindrop mobile! This program is for elementary school children grades 2 through 5. Register for this program by March 27.

Scrabble Day
Thursday, April 13 After School

We will set up some Scrabble boards in our LEGO room for you to play a game of Scrabble with your parents or friends. Stop by the Library to reserve an hour-long spot no later than April 6

School Vacation Week
April 18 - 22

Peep Mobile Craft
Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.

We will be constructing a little car for a marshmallow peep to drive! Each craft will be an original that you may take home to eat after dinner! Please register by April 11 to reserve your spot!

Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day!!
Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

Story time and craft, in your pjs of course!

Earth Day (Celebrated a Little Early)
Thursday, All Day 

For anyone who checks out a book about caring for our Earth, we will have 30 craft kits available to make a “stained glass” Earth art piece (first come-first served). We will also have grocery bags available to pick up trash along your neighborhood street.

In My Garden Stories
Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Hear some stories about gardening and go home with a mini vegetable garden with six seedlings that you can nurture until it is warm enough to plant them outdoors.

Jelly Bean Day
Friday, All Day

Join us for a S.T.E.A.M.-filled day with stations set up using jelly beans as the materials. This program is for children 4 years of age and older. Parents must be in the Story Hour Room with their children while they explore the stations.

Audubon Program About Bats
Saturday at 11:00 a.m. 

Please sign up by April 14 to attend, although we will allow anyone in the Library at that time to participate if there is room!

Friday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. 

Make your Mom a special craft to give her to celebrate Mother’s Day. Please register for this program by April 28 to reserve your spot.

MONTHLY PROGRAMMING


Pokémon Club
Third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. Join your friends to swap, trade, play, and talk about everything Pokémon.
 

WEEKLY PROGRAMMING


Books and Blankies on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
This is an early literacy program that runs in 6-week sessions during the school year. We have books, lap bounces, instrument play, parachute fun, and bubbles! For children ages 18 months to 3 years. Registration is required for entire session. The next session begins on May 2.

Virtual Story Time on Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m.
Hear some fun stories on Beaman Library's Children's Room YouTube channel that will keep your kids entertained while you prepare dinner! Contact the Library for access information.

Mother Goose with Ms. Sandie on Thursdays at 10:15 a.m.
This 6-week gentle literacy program is for the youngest patrons. There will be songs, stories, simple sign language, parenting tips, lap bounces, and more. For children between the ages of birth and 18 months. Registration is required for entire session. The next session begins on May 4.

Books and Blankies Senior on Thursdays at 11:15 a.m.
Have a little fun prepping for your future kindergarten year by joining us for some songs, stories, crafts, and literacy skills. This program runs in 6-week sessions. For children 4 to 5 years of age. Registration is required for entire session. The next session begins on May 4.

Friday First Chapters on Fridays at 4:00 p.m.
Hear the first chapters of two early reader chapter books and two advanced reader chapter books on Beaman Library's Children's Room YouTube channel. Then you can come into the Library to check them out if you wish!

Drop-In Story Time on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.
Enjoy a drop-in story time at the Library with movement songs and fun stories!

Below is an additional tip regarding the new event registration procedure on our website. Take a look and please do not hesitate to contact Library staff with questions you may have!

Creating an account in the event management system: 

-After registering for at least one event, you may create an account. By creating an account, your information will be auto-populated in the registration form, increasing ease of registration, and will allow you to manage your bookings.

-To create an account, click on ‘Sign In‘ on the ‘Bookings‘ portion of the event page.

-Enter the same email provided when registering for an event in the ‘Username‘ field. Click ‘Lost Your Password?

-A generic WordPress interface will require the same email to be entered again in the ‘Username or Email Address‘ field. Then click ‘Get New Password‘.

-You will be prompted to check your email for a confirmation link.

-Click on the link provided in the email you receive from WordPress with the subject line [Beaman Memorial Public Library] Password Reset. Create a new password and then click ‘Save Password‘.

-Now you may log into the Beaman Library website using the email and the password you created.
