From the Vicar

I want to thank you for the privilege of serving as your vicar this past year. I’m deeply grateful for each and every one of you and the role you have played in my pastoral formation. What an exceptional experience I have had. I pray that my presence at Bethesda has been beneficial to you all as well.

As my internship comes to an end this week, my heart is full. I’ll say it - I’m sad to leave. Even as I know that friendship can endure miles, I find it hard to know we’ll be so far apart.

At the same time, I am so very grateful. Pastor Tim -  insightful, challenging, supportive, and patient supervisor. Pastor Kari - patient and steady as I learned about campus ministry. Worship volunteers and committee members and church leaders and staff and, well, everyone  - welcoming and generous and accepting. You celebrated with me when I got things just right, like the ice cream social. You smiled and encouraged even when I blundered. You were gentle when I went just a little too far (don’t mess with the Creed, Vicar). Every single one of you has played a part in my growth and formation and helped me to become better prepared for ministry. I thank God for each of you.

While I look forward to continuing my seminary journey, I am also eager to see what the future holds for Bethesda. I am confident that this faith community will always be grounded in faith, centered on the grace of the Word, and ever moving forward in ministry, mission, and music. Stay incredible!

As for me, I will journey forward, ever discerning this call. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Thanks be to God.

After July 15th, you may reach me at [email protected] or on my mobile at 719-352-8918. Feel free to drop me a line: Gabrielle Brown 1385 Bison Ridge Drive Colorado Springs CO 80919

May the LORD bless you and keep you;

May the LORD’s face shine upon you and be gracious to you

And give you peace.

Coming Up at Bethesda

Consecration of Deacon Jeff Hazewinkel

Member Jeff Hazewinkel will be consecrated into Diaconal Ministry Sunday July 16th at 5:00 pm local time in Dewitt MI as part of the Community of Lutheran Deacons Annual Meeting. Livestream of the service may be viewed through this link.

Consecration marks several years of personal, spiritual, academic and professional preparation. Jeff has been especially influenced by the persistent ministries of individuals rebuilding the Christian church in the former East Germany. The theme of the service is Glaube, Hoffnung, Liebe (faith, hope, love) which guides many in their daily walk with Christ.

The Lutheran Diaconal Association (LDA) is an independent, multi-Lutheran organization that forms, sends and nurtures a community of deaconesses and deacons, and supports the people of God in Christ’s call to service.

Should you wish to support the LDA’s mission, you may do so by visiting www.theLDA.org or by specifying so on your donation to Bethesda.

Where’s Eleanor?

Lutheran Summer Music is reaching the halfway mark with the largest student body since 2005! (See if you can find our own Eleanor in the group photo!) Many of the amazing concerts are live-streamed and can be found at their website: https://www.lsmacademy.org/2023

Eleanor will perform in the choir and orchestra concerts this weekend and again on July 21 and 22. (All times are central daylight time.) She is having an amazing time making friends, growing as a musician, and exploring her faith. Continued thanks to Bethesda for your support and prayers!!
