Clean lines, geometric shapes and bright colors characterize this exhibition of more than 100 early 20th century works by iconic Art Deco Studios such as René Lalique, Daum Frères, Steuben Glass Works, and many others. Assembled through the keen and practiced eye of renowned contemporary glass artist David Huchthausen, each piece in this exhibition takes viewers back to an extraordinary time in glass history.

Opening Events

Member Preview

November 4, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Members are invited to see the exhibition a day ahead of the public opening at a special event where they can enjoy an exclusive preview, participate in a series of "Discussions with our Directors" in the Biggs Bistro, and engage in insightful pop-up talks on featured glass pieces in the new exhibition. 5-7 p.m. will be a happy hour. So join us as we raise a glass to our members and celebrate our new exhibition. As an extra show of appreciation, we'll be raffling off prizes for members in attendance throughout the day.

Members are welcome to bring non-member guests to the preview at the discounted rate of $5 per guest.

Public Opening

November 5, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Not only can guests get their first look at the Art Deco Glass on display, but visitors between 11 a.m and 2 p.m. can partake in an all ages hands-on craft. At 2 p.m. the public is invited to join a walk on tour highlighting items from our permanent collection. All of these activities and admission are provided free of charge as part of the Biggs' monthly First Saturday Program.

That's not all! Right outside the Museum, Delaware by Hand Artists will be selling handmade goods perfect for the holidays at our Fall Artisan Market. This is part of a larger event hosted by First State Heritage Park, the 18th Century Market Fair. Dover's historic Green will be bustling with activity that you won't want to miss

Take a free tour of our favorite special exhibition pieces every Friday!

Join one of the Biggs Education team members for a unique addition to your Biggs visit. Explore a selection of artworks from the David Huchthausen collection with a 30-minute guided tour. This tour is included with your admission and differs from docent to docent, so every tour is unique. If you would like to join please gather in the Child Help Gallery at 11:30 to meet your docent.
