Arts and Entertainment

July 9, 2025

From: City of Springfield

Springfield, OR The Springfield Arts Commission invites the public to the July Second Friday Art Walk on Friday, July 11, featuring a whimsical new exhibit by local artist Keith Bennett in the City Hall Gallery (225 5th Street). The exhibit, Chalkboard Series – Fur and Feathers, runs through the month and celebrates the joy of dogs, birds, and creative play.

Opening Reception

  • Friday, July 11 | 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Enjoy live music by Tara Kemp – Red Pajamas
  • Free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided

Keith’s work is inspired by his childhood in Arizona, where sweltering recesses turned into artistic exploration on classroom chalkboards. That early joy of drawing, erasing, and creating anew is reflected in this playful and heartfelt series that explores the personalities of our feathered and furry companions. Visitors will also have a chance to win a painting during the event

Youth Art Gallery Spotlight

This month’s Youth Gallery features the winning entries from the BRING 2025 Student Product Design Challenge. Oregon students (grades K–12) showcased innovation through reuse and waste prevention, blending art and sustainability in thoughtful new ways. Congratulations to all who participated!

Willamalane Exhibit + Free Shuttle Access

Make the most of your Art Walk experience by visiting Willamalane Adult Activity Center, also participating in Second Friday with a special exhibit by artist Mimi Brickson and live music by Chris Pontrelli. Families can also view a colorful new community-created piece from Willamalane’s Children’s Celebration, part of the Together Through Parks project.

Free shuttle service is available between downtown and the Adult Activity Center — especially helpful this month due to construction impacts on Mill Street. More details: willamalane.org/friday
