Celebration of Spring and Family- Thirteen Witches, One Unforgettable Event

Arts and Entertainment

April 7, 2017

APRIL 7, 2017  PLANO, TEXAS   In the ancient Bavarian tradition, people gather together to observe the end of the cold, dark winter, and the arrival of Spring in a special holiday known as Walpurgisnacht.  Officially observed on April 30, this celebration also marks the half-way point to Halloween with food, family, and often fireworks very much like the American tradition of Independence Day on July 4th.  Just as the 4th of July is a common time for family reunions, this year, all 13 members of Simone Noir's Coven have convened on the manor for an unforgettable family gathering celebrating this special time of year.

According to Dark Hour Artistic Director Allen Hopps, "Most people in America have never even heard of this great tradition which is still very much celebrated in parts of Europe."  Dark Hour draws inspiration from many parts of historic lore.  This show features aspects of the European tradition with the concept of family and fun.  "Our show always involves one of the witches and their efforts to take over the Coven, this particular show includes all 13 witches, and their family reunion of sorts." As with any extended family gathering, tensions may run high at times, the difference is that most families throw insults at each other, these hurl hexes.
