Film as Fine Art
ED WOOD’s Plan 9 from Outer Space
& OUTSIDER: David “The Rock” Nelson

March 4, 7:00PM | Moe Auditorium & Film Center

"Plan 9 From Outer Space" and "OUTSIDER: David 'The Rock' Nelson" epitomize the essence of cult cinema with their low-budget effects, wooden acting, and absurd plots. Directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr., "Plan 9" has garnered a dedicated following, establishing Wood as an unintentional pioneer of cult filmmaking. Similarly, David "The Rock" Nelson, dubbed the "Ed Wood of the 90s," embraces his underdog status, crafting films with a passionate, do-it-yourself spirit. Both filmmakers, despite financial constraints and critical dismissal, resonate with niche audiences, solidifying their places as beloved underdogs in the realm of cult cinema.
