ESC'S DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON PROVIDES A NEW 2025 VIDEO THEATRE RENDITION OF OTHELLO'S "THIS FELLOW'S OF EXCEEDING HONESTY" SPEECH FROM ACT THREE, SCENE THREE OF THE RENOWNED SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY AT THE NORTHEAST ENTRANCE OF DTLA'S HISTORIC BRADBURY BUILDING!
Since their very first impromptu video theatre collaboration of a November 2017 "street theatre"-style rendition of Rudyard Kipling's inspirational poem "If" on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California, Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project Founder Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( actor, adapter, director and producer ) and Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project Creative Associate, the noted actor Danny Belrose ( editor, photographer and videographer ), have made a point to select interesting, intriguing, artistic and historic outdoor locations throughout The Greater Los Angeles Area to record new and lively versions of classic poems and acclaimed dramatic speeches.

Their most recent endeavor of The Immortal Bard's "This Fellow's of Exceeding Honesty" Speech, in which Darryl Maximilian Robinson shares a brief rendering of the title role in William Shakespeare's "Othello," may be of interest to not only fans of poetry and classic drama, but of historic paintings and architecture in Downtown Los Angeles.

The two ESC Theatre Artists selected a shoot location that is a renowned historic national landmark.

Recorded Monday Afternoon November 10, 2025 on 3rd Street at the northeast side entrance of the famed Bradbury Building on Broadway ( which from its front entrance at the intersection sits directly across from the Silent Screen Age movie palace The Million Dollar Theatre, and from its side entrance faces a marvelous, massive and multiple-story tall mural painting of the late, great Oscar-winning and Tony Award-nominated Mexican-American stage and screen actor Anthony Quinn in his acclaimed and unforgettable role as "Zorba, the Greek" ) this new theatrical offering by Mr. Robinson and Mr. Belrose features two different takes of the "Othello" Speech and a preview video shot same day.

Darryl Maximilian Robinson, a 51-year-long American Stage Performer who received both a 1997 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Citation Award for Outstanding Actor In A Principal Role In A Play and a 1997 Chicago Black Theatre Alliance / Ira Aldridge Award nomination for Best Leading Actor In A Play for his critically-praised performance as Sam Semela in The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago revival of Athol Fugard's "Master Harold And The Boys" presented at the much-missed Heartland Cafe Studio Theatre of Rogers Park as well as a 2019 Broadwayworld Chicago Award nomination for Best Performer In A Musical or Revue for his critically-praised performance as The Chairman Mr. William Cartwright and Mayor Thomas Sapsea in the 2018 Saint Sebastian Players of Chicago revival production of Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winKining musical whodunit "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" at the more than a century old St Bonaventure Church, and most recently, a 2022 Making The World Happening Award from Allevents.in for his numerous online theatre-related offerings during the early years of The Covid-19 pandemic, has a strong background in classical speech presentation.

An experienced Shakespearean performer and award-winning Chicago-born and LA-based stage actor and play director who has been involved in over 250 theatrical productions and literary arts performance presentations around the country, Darryl Maximilian Robinson first appeared in the title role of William Shakespeare's "Othello" in 1984 under the direction of skilled academic and theatre professor James Barushok in a revival staging by The StagePlayers of Northeastern Illinois University of Chicago. In 1991, Darryl Maximilian Robinson produced, directed and played the title role of "Othello" ( opposite skilled and talented fellow 1982 National Shakespeare Company Tour of New York alum and future internationally noted voice character actor Walter Roberts as Iago ) in a radio theatre recording production of the work broadcast on KDHX St. Louis Public Radio.

And for nearly 15 years, between 1987 and 2001, Darryl Maximilian Robinson shared Othello's "This Fellow's of Exceeding Honesty" Speech as a highlight of his critically-praised, regional touring, one-man show of Shakespeare and time-travel comedy, "A Bit of the Bard."

The historic Bradbury Building is a noted film shoot location significantly featured in such films as the original 1980s sci-fi cult classic "Blade Runner" and the more recent Oscar-winning Best Picture "The Artist."

Most recently, Darryl Maximilian Robinson received a 2024 Broadwayworld Los Angeles Award nomination for Best Supporting Performer In A Play for his portrayal of Chicago Tribune Newspaper Reporter Roy V. Bensinger in The Culver City Public Theatre revival production of Ben Hecht's and Charles MacArthur's "The Front Page" presented outdoors at The Carlson Memorial Park in Culver City, California.
