Railroad Safety Training

Yesterday, AP Officers and Dispatchers, along with several other area law enforcement officers, attended training with Union Pacific as part of Operation LIFESAVER. APPD sought out this training due to the recent reactivation of the Railroad.

This course covered the history of railroad incidents, safety issues, signs and signals, location identification, identification of cars, common crimes, crash investigation, available resources, and hazmat response. Students also went to the Union Pacific Rail Yard in Gregory and had the opportunity to get hands-on training.

If you are interested in any additional railroad safety information, Operation LIFESAVER provides a lot of information on their website. They are also always looking for volunteers to assist in spreading their safety messages.
