Boynton Beach Assists
With Ian Relief Efforts

Representatives from the Boynton Beach Public Works, Utilities and Police Departments were deployed to the West coast of Florida to assist in #HurricaneIan relief efforts. 

In addition to providing manpower, in honor of World Teachers Day, Boynton Beach Police Department dropped off school supply donations for the schools, teachers, and students who have been directly impacted by Hurricane Ian.

Gun Buyback 

The Boynton Beach Police Dept. is hosting a Gun Buyback Event on Sat., Oct. 8, (9 am - 1 pm) at the Boynton Beach Church of God House of Kingdom Worship (135 N.E. 7th Ave.).  The firearm must be unloaded with the safety engaged, and in a bag, box or case in the trunk of your car.
-$100 gift card/functional handgun
-$200 gift card/functional rifle/long gun

Day of Hope

On Sat., Oct. 8 from 10 am - 2 pm, the Boynton Beach Police Department, alongside community sponsors, is hosing a Day of Hope at the Patterson Plaza (1815 S. Federal Hwy.). The free event will provide essentials to those experiencing homelessness and offer:
-Hygiene Bags
-Mobile Showers and Laundry Services
-Clothing
-Hot meals

Mel Taylor

Join the Boynton Beach City Library on Tues., Oct. 11 (1 pm - 2 pm) for an author discussion with accomplished mystery novel author Mel Taylor. All of Mr. Taylor's books are based in South Florida, where he mixes the exotic nature of the Florida Everglades with the beauty of the coast. His book Investigation Con was a finalist for Kindle Book Review's Book of the Year.  Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of Taylor's books and have them signed. This event is free, but online registration required

Fire Extinguisher
Giveaway

Fire Prevention Week begins on Sun., Oct. 9. Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Dept. will be celebrating by hosting a Fire Extinguisher Giveaway for Boynton Beach residents on Tues., Oct. 11 at Fire Station #5 (2080 High Ridge Rd.). Free fire extinguishers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Lunch will be provided from Christ Fellowship Church & attendees will have the opportunity to meet Sparky the Fire Dog. Questions? 561-742-6600.

Fall Festival

Join the City's Recreation & Parks Dept. for the Fall Festival on Sat., Oct. 15 (3- 6 pm). New Location this Year - The Festival will take place at Centennial Park (120 E. Ocean Ave.) in Downtown Boynton. Enjoy family fun including games, bounce houses, rock wall, petting zoo, sack races, a pumpkin decorating contest, face painting and a DJ. In addition, Community Greening will give away 200 trees (max. 2 per household). Trees include wild tamarind, slash pine, loquat and avocado.

Senior Health Fair

The Senior Health Fair will take place on Thurs., Oct. 18, from 9 - 11 am, at the Ezell Hester, Jr. Community Center. More than 25 vendors are participating.

Attendees will receive free blood pressure checks, CPR demonstrations, giveaways and more! Walk-ins welcome.
