Upcoming intergroup dialogue program to promote discussion and understanding
Brookings, SD – The Brookings Public Library is organizing a series of intergroup dialogues throughout September and October. During these dialogues, groups led by trained facilitators will meet over 5 weeks to communicate across differences and explore challenging topics affecting them and their community.

Mikaela Neubauer, the Library’s Community Services Coordinator and program organizer, is excited to see Brookings residents share their voices and perspectives through these intergroup dialogues.

“It’s not often that you get to sit down and have open, constructive conversations with people from differing backgrounds,” Neubauer said. “This is a great opportunity to better understand each other and strengthen our community in the process.”

Those interested in participating in these dialogues are invited to attend the kick-off event on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:00pm in the Library’s Cooper Room. At the kick-off, participants will learn what to expect from the program and will be able to register to be part of a dialogue group. Light refreshments will be served. If you are interested in this opportunity, we ask that you RSVP by visiting bit.ly/bplibdialogue. Please email Mikaela at [email protected] with any further questions.

If you require assistance, alternative formats, and/or accessible locations consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact the City ADA Coordinator at (605) 692-6281 at least 3 working days prior to any meeting held at the Library.

More information about this and other events can be found on the Brookings Public Library website calendar (brookingslibrary.org) or on the Library’s Facebook page (@bkglib).
