Discount Rain Barrels Available to Cambridge Residents
Reduce stormwater runoff and capture rainwater roof for later use

The City of Cambridge is partnering with the Great American Rain Barrel Program to provide discount rain barrels for Cambridge residents. Barrels are offered at $79 for painted and $74 for unpainted.

Rain barrels offer homeowners an alternate free water supply to use on lawns, gardens, or plants by capturing rainwater from the roof for later use. With the increasing intensity and frequency of rainfall, rain barrels also reduce stormwater runoff and allow for groundwater to recharge, keeping local waterways cleaner.

“Using a rain barrel is one of the many ways residents can help conserve water and protect our environment,” said Owen O’Riordan, Commissioner, Cambridge Department of Public Works. “It helps the city conserve valuable water resources and helps homeowners reduce their water bills. It’s a win-win for the city and the homeowner.”

To participate in Cambridge’s The Great American Rain Barrel Program, please visit: www.greatamericanrainbarrel.com/community and select “Cambridge.” Barrels will be available for pick up on Tuesday, June 14, from 4:00-6:30 p.m., at the parking lot across from 63 Mooney St., Cambridge. Deadline to purchase rain barrels is Sunday, June 5.
