Cambridge, MA, November 8, 2022 -- The City of Cambridge is looking for volunteers to serve on the Black, Indigenous, People of Color-Owned (BIPOC) Business Advisory Committee for a two (2) year term. The goal of this group is to work with City staff to build policies and programs to better assist BIPOC-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. 

The Committee has 13 members representing a range of business sectors (e.g. retail, restaurant, non-profit organizations, and personal and professional services) and the full diversity of the Cambridge BIPOC business community. 

There are five (5) vacant seats.

Who should apply?

Any Cambridge small business owner identifying as Black, Brown, Indigenous, Asian, Asian Pacific Islander, Latinx, or other historically marginalized group

Especially residents who have never served on a board or committee

Organizations serving Cambridge whose principal mission is to represent BIPOC businesses

Why should I apply?
Joining the BIPOC Business advisory committee will allow you to:

Advise the City on ways to uplift BIPOC-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in Cambridge

Help spread information about resources for businesses in Cambridge  

Network with other Cambridge BIPOC business owners and entrepreneurs, as well as City staff

What’s involved?

Attend monthly meetings

Provide feedback and ideas about improving:
Business programs
Policies 
Outreach efforts
The City’s overall relationship with BIPOC-owned businesses
