Cambridge, MA, July 21, 2022 -- Cambridge Works, the City of Cambridge’s transitional jobs program, is recruiting for its 28th program cycle, which will run from September - December 2022. The program, offered by the Department of Human Service Programs’ Office of Workforce Development, serves Cambridge residents between the ages of 18-35 who have difficulty finding full-time jobs due to limited work experience, a gap in their work history, legal challenges, or personal issues.

Cambridge Works prepares participants for full-time employment through:

-A 3-month, paid temporary job placement at a local organization

-Professional development classes focusing on resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, financial literacy, communication skills, and goal setting

-Support from a case manager

-Job search support to find full-time employment

“The Cambridge Works program is a testament to the City’s commitment to workforce development and to preparing Cambridge residents with the skills needed to find rewarding employment in a competitive job market,” said Acting City Manager Owen O’Riordan. “Cambridge Works transforms the lives of participants - an impact would not be possible without the dedication of the program’s talented staff.”

“For over 15 years, Cambridge Works has helped participants overcome personal and legal challenges, gain job experience and mentorship, develop their confidence, and find full-time employment,” said Ellen Semonoff, Assistant City Manager for Human Services. “The connection to fellow participants and staff does not end after graduation. Cambridge Works participants have a lasting support network and many resources available to them even after they complete the program.”

Applications will be accepted through August and the program will begin in early September. To apply to Cambridge Works, visit www.cambridgema.gov/CambridgeWorks.
