SoCalGas is conducting ongoing inspections of above-ground natural gas equipment on residential properties throughout Chino Hills. SoCalGas is inspecting gas meters and anodeless risers, which is the metal pipe rising from the ground that is connected to the meters and the method for transitioning from plastic natural gas service lines to steel natural gas meter sets.

SoCalGas has contracted with Arizona Pipeline (APL) to check the gas risers for leaks or corrosion. APL employees will be knocking on doors at residential homes throughout Chino Hills to notify residents that they will need to access their property to perform the inspection and services that are required. If the resident is not home and the meter is behind a gate, SoCalGas' authorized contractor APL will also attempt to check if the gate is not locked. However, if the gate is locked, they will leave a tag and ask for the resident to call and schedule an appointment. Please be advised that APL technicians carry photo identification and wear uniforms.

If there is damage to a riser, APL will install new coating and possibly small plastic vaults to protect the riser and the coating from accumulating soil or other debris. SoCalGas advises that the homeowner will not be responsible for any costs if a riser needs to be replaced. If additional maintenance is required, SoCalGas will provide a letter to the property owner of when they will return to complete the work and need access to the gas meter.

If you have any questions, or to report a pipeline emergency, call SoCalGas at 1 (800) 427-2200.
