Cupertino, CA - The City of Cupertino is pleased to announce the appointment and promotion of Matt Morley as the new Assistant City Manager. Morley has been the Acting Assistant City Manager since November 2022, and officially assumes this new role today, January 17.

“We are thrilled to make this internal promotion with someone as qualified and dedicated as Matt to our leadership team,” said City Manager Pamela Wu. “He brings many years of valuable experience to the City of Cupertino and has already become a key component to our team in his acting role over the past few months.”

Morley started with the City in April 2022 as the Director of Public Works. Prior to joining the City of Cupertino, he served as the Parks and Public Works Director for the Town of Los Gatos and in a variety of management and leadership positions at the City of San Jose.

“I am proud to be a part of the amazing team of employees, volunteers, and elected officials that serve the community of Cupertino, and I am honored to be given a new role,” stated Morley. “I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to the future success of the organization.”

Morley is a South Bay native who holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is married with three grown children and enjoys hiking, wine tasting, and travel.
