Green Building Ordinance Training

Community members and industry professionals are invited to learn about the City’s new Green Building Ordinance. Two training sessions will be available on Thursday, Aug. 25 with lunch or dinner provided. There is no cost to attend the training.

Date: Thursday, Aug. 25
Time: Session #1: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Session #2: 5:30-7 p.m.

Trail 95 Ribbon Cutting

On Aug. 23, 2022, the City of Encinitas celebrated the grand opening of Trail 95 with a ribbon cutting by the Mayor and Council Members. Located along El Camino Del Norte in the community of Olivenhain, the new 920 linear feet trail makes connections to existing Olivenhain trails and the County of San Diego Trail System.

Achieving Your Zero Waste Potential Webinar

Join Solana Center in partnership with the City of Encinitas for this one-hour webinar where you will learn the basics of waste reduction, why it’s important, and how to keep at it even with our changing circumstances. We’ll dive deeper into the concepts of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and understand why they are said in that order.

In this webinar, we will cover the following:  

Techniques and tips to reduce, reuse, or recycle
Why our single-use culture needs to end
Where our stuff comes from and where it goes
How to adapt the basics of zero-waste to life in the pandemic era

Free Kitchen Organics Bins for Encinitas Businesses

The City of Encinitas is offering businesses free back of house (non-public) organics collection containers to use in kitchens or other back of house operations where food waste is generated.

To request your bins, please email [email protected] by Friday, Sept. 16. Include the following information:

Contact Name
Phone Number
Email
Type of Organics Bin Requested (Limit one small container and one large container per business)

Green Block Leader Volunteer Program – Now Recruiting

We need your help to make Encinitas a little greener! Join the City of Encinitas for the Green Block Leader Volunteer Pilot Program. Volunteers will receive a 90-minute zero waste training and a toolkit of resources. They will then use their sustainability knowledge to teach their neighbors and community about how to reduce waste. Participants must be 18 years or older and a resident of Encinitas.

Part-time positions are available at the Encinitas Community and Senior Center where people of all ages come to play, learn, exercise and build friendships.

Cox's Affordable Connectivity Program

Cox’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program that helps many low income households and students with discounts for internet service and equipment costs. Eligible households enrolled in ACP will receive up to $30 off their monthly internet service and equipment.

Notice of Public Meeting: Notice of Availability of Public Review and Comment  

The City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. to consider the approval of the City of Encinitas’ FY 2021-22 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER). The draft FY 2021-22 CAPER is available for public review and comment from Aug. 22 to Sept. 20. The CAPER summarizes the expenditure of funds and accomplishments for activities funded under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program during the FY 2021-22 program year (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022). The FY 2021-22 Draft CAPER includes accomplishments and expenditures related to City’s CDBG allocation from the CARES Act (CDBG-CV) in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Draft FY 2021-22 CAPER is available for review at the City’s Development Services Department located at City Hall during regular business hours, at the Encinitas Community Center, Encinitas and Cardiff public libraries and on the City’s website at linked here.
