Update - Beach Access Closed at Beacons Due to Reactivated Landslide

City of Encinitas staff and Scripps Institute of Oceanography staff continue to monitor the bluff failure at Beacon’s Beach. There appears to be continued minor movement on the slope, causing additional distress and damage to the trail. No movement has been reported in the parking lot or sidewalk.

Weekly monitoring will continue for the next few months. Once no more movement is detected, City of Encinitas geotechnical engineers will make a recommendation to for potential remediation. Staff is seeking an emergency permit from the Coastal Commission for the temporary closure of the trail and parking lot and for the monitoring equipment.

Future Electric Vehicle Charging Stations - Your Feedback Needed

The City of Encinitas is seeking feedback on where and what types of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) should be installed in our community. All city residents are invited to help develop the EVCS Master Plan for future installations.

Sharing information about electric vehicle (EV) ownership rates, charger locations and potential barriers to increasing EV adoption will help the city reach its goal of becoming more EV-friendly, with easier access to EVCS.

Please register for the virtual EVCS Public Workshop to learn more or provide your input.

Date: Tuesday, June 14

Time: 6-7 p.m.

Location: Zoom Webinar
