Government and Politics

July 22, 2022

From: City of Goleta

On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., the Design Review Board will continue to review the City’s Draft Objective Design Standards for Multiple-Unit and Mixed-Use Housing (Draft ODS) that began on July 12, 2022. The public is encouraged to attend this virtual meeting and provide comments on the Draft ODS.

At the meeting, the project team will focus the discussion and comments on Draft ODS Sections 17.44.040 (Mixed-Use Standards) and 17.44.050 (Utilitarian Elements). Time will also be given for additional discussion and feedback on Draft ODS Sections 17.44.010 (Introduction), 17.44.020 (Site Design), and 17.44.030 (Building Design). Staff will also summarize feedback received from the July 12, 2022 Design Review Board study session and address any additional comments received between the July 12 and July 26 meetings.

The agenda for the July 26, 2022, Design Review Board meeting is available here: https://tinyurl.com/34u4s5s8

Click here to view the Draft ODS. The objective design standards would apply, at a minimum, to projects qualifying for objective, streamlined review under Senate Bill 35 (2017). Development of objective design standards is critical to ensure that if a development proposal qualifies, the City is prepared to apply adequate objective standards so that the proposed development is designed appropriately for the community.

After the public review of the Draft ODS, the project team will revise the Draft ODS as needed and present a Public Hearing Draft ODS for adoption hearings in front of the Planning Commission and City Council later this year.
