City of Harrisburg is delighted to host a summer program with young adults to prepare them for life experiences.

Goodwill Keystone Region has been working with the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and partnering with the City of Harrisburg on this work program throughout the summer. The initiative pairs students in their local municipalities with job skills training over the summer, with site supervisors overseeing their work, helping them through any barriers to being prepared with essential skills for real-world scenarios. A team is based at City Hall, and another group is assigned to do outdoor projects at City Island, such as painting, mulching, and gardening.

Dean Pitch, Youth Service Manager for Goodwill Keystone Area, said, “we have been very fortunate to have a relationship with the city of Harrisburg parks and recreation to continue with the program out here with the students this year.”

This project aligns with the municipality’s goals to beautify the City and enhance our community.
