31st Annual Trash Bash a Big Success

Keep Irving Beautiful hosted the 31st Annual Trash Bash on Saturday, Sept. 24, at T.W. Rich-ardson Grove Park. It was a beautiful morning for a cleanup, and 409 volunteers turned out for the event. When all the bags were weighed (thank you, Solid Waste Services),they collected 860 pounds of trash and 410 pounds of recyclables. But this event is much more than picking up litter, and we had a great variety of fun and educational activities.

These included:

Irving Public Library, who presented three puppet shows; City of Irving Urban Forestry Team, who distributed tree seedlings and helped volunteers pot them; Barry Allen, with his collection of reptiles; Randy Mecca of DiscGames who provided disc golf activities;City of Irving Water Utilities who had their popular table and supplied water; Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, who had a STEM activity;Arca Continental Southwest Beverages, who provided Coca-Cola products; Level Pathways and Irving Flood Control District III, who both had information tables.
