Mayor Jared Carr announced the kickoff of Lebanon Project 2040 at his annual State of the City address on Feb. 2.

Lebanon Project 2040 is the City’s comprehensive plan to map out the future for the next 20 years and beyond.

Simply put, a comprehensive plan provides Lebanon leadership with a map to implement the community’s vision for the future. The tool helps municipalities ensure land is developed properly and creates proper conditions for residential, commercial, and industrial growth.

“This new comprehensive plan will be a daunting task, but we believe this will be a great opportunity for our elected officials, City staff, business leaders and residents to collaborate and build a roadmap for an even brighter future,” said Mayor Jared Carr.

The process of creating Lebanon Project 2040 will take several months. Over the next year, community members and leaders can expect the City to host townhalls and forums to create opportunities for all residents and community leaders to engage, dream and collaborate about the heights Lebanon can reach.

“At the end of the engagement process, officials will use the community input to develop a solid, progressive plan to capitalize on our momentum and increase our success into the future,” Carr said.

The plan will take stock of where we are today and help leadership develop a set of specific strategies and polices to help us reach our vision over time.

The comprehensive planning process helps communities identify issues before they arise, stay ahead of trends in land development and redevelopment and helps navigate potential changes in population.

Future announcements will be forthcoming as Lebanon Project 2040 progresses.
