City Of Napa Economic Development Newsletter - December 2022

Government and Politics

December 8, 2022

From: City Of Napa

Hello,

December is here—and we’re excited to bring you the latest edition of our Economic Development newsletter!
This month we are focusing on holiday shopping and efforts to support our local merchants. As Napans and visitors are looking for special holiday gifts, there are plenty of great options including the shops at First Street Napa (see article below) and throughout downtown, the Napa Outlet Mall and the multiple arts and crafts fairs popping up.

As you search for gifts, I encourage you to shop local. By supporting the businesses in our community, you play an important role in strengthening our local economy. American Express estimates that for every dollar spent at a small business, an average of $0.67 stays within that local community. That means you’re helping your fellow neighbors, family, and friends here in Napa. Plus, you can find unique gifts that will stand out from the typical big box stores!
Below, you’ll see several great resources focused on local businesses and shopping this holiday season. I also encourage you to check out our recently-updated Economic Development Dashboard to see the latest indicators of the City of Napa's economic performance.

One last thing. Check out the North Bay Business Journal feature on our friend, Craig Smith from the Napa Downtown Association describing his many moons supporting downtown revitalization!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Small Business Startup Guide

The holiday season is the busiest time of year for local businesses everywhere, which can add extra stress and confusion for entrepreneurs getting ready to finally bring their big ideas to life. After connecting with our business community to discover the most helpful info to launch their local shops, the Economic Development team created the Small Business Startup Guide, a step-by-step guide to navigating the City’s application and permitting process... Read the full industry resource article.

The Bennington at First Street Napa

Boasting a wide variety of local merchandise and unique culinary options, First Street Napa remains an essential one-stop shop for all your holiday shopping needs. Over the past few years, First Street has become home to more than 30 local-owned businesses where visitors can shop for anything from trendy athletic wear to handmade designer rugs and carpets... Read the full business interview article.

Downtown Napa Association

The Downtown Napa Association (DNA), founded in 1971, works “to foster better business in the downtown area, to provide support for the merchants and professionals, and to promote downtown as the core of the community for business, entertainment, and culture.” Anyone who lives in Napa or has visited in the past 15+ years can appreciate how much downtown has changed since 1971, evolving from a barely-developed, flood-prone and dilapidated Main Street to a destination unto itself... Read the full partner resource article.
